February is Dental Health Month for pets and dis iz an issue near and dear to me. I hab several friends wot haz crossed da rainbow bridge affer habbing teeth cleanings or teeth problems. Bad teeth can seriously endanger your pets. So it doz be sumfin u need to takes care of on a daily basis. Not all cats or dogs will put up wif habbin der teeth brushed. Dat's where teeth cleaning treats like Greenies come in. Dey still might need a dental cleaning every once in awhile but Greenies will really halp reduce tartar and keep your pets mouth clean.

Pet product peer to American Dental Association seal for humans assures efficacy

NASHVILLE, TN—February 1, 2011—With recent medical data indicating that good oral health can add years to a pet’s healthy lifespan, pet owners are becoming more proactive in caring for their pets’ teeth. February is National Pet Dental Health Month, but dental care is getting due focus year round. Though only one percent of dog owners brush their dogs’ teeth daily, last year 77 percent purchased dental treats, which are regarded as an easier and more enjoyable alternative to brushing. ¹

 

But not all treats have been proven to work. As with the American Dental Association Seal on human toothpastes and toothbrushes, a special Seal of Acceptance by an organization called the Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC) provides confirmation of efficacy of the product. The VOHC Seal of Acceptance indicates that the product has met or exceeded the pre-set VOHC standards of efficacy in reducing dental plaque and/or tartar. 

 “There are a variety of pet treats and foods that claim to clean teeth, but not all products provide significant benefit,” says Dr. Jan Bellows, a leading veterinary dentist, diplomate and president-elect of the American Veterinary Dental College, the administrator of the VOHC. The VOHC created a seal of acceptance, which is only awarded to dental products proven effective by stringent clinical testing methodology. 

“The VOHC seal confirms a product is efficacious in reducing buildup of plaque and tartar, the leading cause of oral disease, which can reduce a pet’s healthy lifespan,” Dr. Bellows says. “Walk into any pet store and you will find dozens of treats that claim to clean teeth. While it’s easy to make teeth-cleaning claims, formulating a treat that significantly protects teeth is difficult. The VOHC seal is there to help pet owners and veterinarians recognize which products are proven to work.” 

The VOHC’s product testing protocols are similar to those of human medical trials that use a control and test group. For dental treat trials in dogs, for example, both groups utilize dogs with clean teeth that are fed a dry food diet, while only one group gets a daily dental treat. Plaque and tartar buildup are measured after 30 days and, if the test group shows significantly cleaner teeth, the seal is awarded to that treat.

New Fridggy-ator

First it wuz a new floor (wot I no likes I mite tells you -- I slip & slide on it too much when I tries to gib kitchen lubbins).

Gonna Be Attending BlogPaws West

Wow, I just can't believe it. We barely gotted back from BarkWorld Expo and now we turning round and headin to BlogPaws next week.

We did not finks we could go to BlogPaws West dis time cause well it iz WEST affer all. It iz all the way in da other side of the country from us.Even though we wished and daydreamed about attendin we never ever thought it possible. Then we gotted this message about a sponsor for us to go.

Greenies Pill Pockets Are Da Bestest Way To Pill a Cat

Do u remember awhile back we had to take ma sisfur Abby to da V-E-T cause herz wasn't feeling so good. Well herz had an abscess and herz blood work showed her thyroid wuz not working properly so herz wuz givin lots of pills to takes. So da humanz went right out & buyed her Pill Pockets. One bag of chicken and one bag of salmon. Pill Pockets are da bestest best way to give a cat a pill. Believe you me!

Den ma friends over at Greenies sended us some samples of their new Allergy Formula Pill Pockets. These are duck and pea and great for cats and dogs wot have allergies to common proteins and carbohydrates that are used in most treats. Besides that these new Duck Pill Pockets taste absolutely PAWSUM!!!

Abby actually waits on the table every morning for her pills herz lubs dem Duck Pill Pockets so much.

I gotted a package shoved between ma doors today. (n dat mailman wunders why i runs to da door when he comes across ma porch! I bets he finks i comin to sez hi to he...HA!)

I gotted a package in da mails frum ma furends at da Greenies company (@GREENIESBrand @reneeatnutro) cause I wuz tellin dem about ma sisfur Abby needin pills everyday for furever and dat we could no finds da noo Allergy Formula Pill Pockets no wheres. Az u can sees I did gets sum really nommy Feline Greenies in fishy flavors too (mehbe I will shares dem wif da sisfurs, den agin mehbe not).

See how dem Greenies do keeps your teeths pearly white? But dey do werks betterer iffen u opens da package n eats da nommy treats inside.

Mmmmm looks at all dem nommy gud treats! Iffen u no likes da Ocean Fishy flavors dey haz utter flavors available too! Likes Beef, Salmon, Chicken and Tuna. Nommy!

A Beary Hoppy Easter

I did no nose dat da Jackalope wuz also da Easter Bunny! Who noo?!?! Mehbe he will cleans ma winder for me (see all dem Boris nose prints on da glass, heeheehee).

I gotted sum beary nice fings fur Easter frum ma furends. @jazzydacat sended me dat cute sleepy bunbun card all da ways frum Englands! And ma pal @ZackRabbit did makes me doz loverly origami flowers wif dat pawsum card (see it iz Jedi Zachary and Jedi Boris on da fronts). Den Human2 & I did build dat fun LEGO @ZackRabbit dis morning afore our egg hunts.

Edgar & Human2 did tries to makes special Boris nommy eggs fur ma egg hunts but I could sniff out da treats afore dey wuz even dun filling da eggs. I did jumps up on da counter hunting da salmon noms & finded all da eggs. Edgar did praktis hidin da egg in ma cat grass but i did finds it!

Edgar sneak out & hidded all da salmon nom easter eggies fur me in da big tall grasses...all da better to nom da grasses when dey is tall u nose.

Dey wuz supposed to be "hard to finds" eggs. But I did finds one rite qwik! (ez fur me to sniffs dem out since der iz nommy salmon inside!)

Tolds u dis tall grasses wuz purrfekt fur nommin!

Human2 did lets me open up da egg and eats da salmon out of it rite where I did finds it!
